Michael W. Davis
Principal
Mike Davis has over 30 years experience in high technology engineering and management. His experience at Hewlett Packard and Agilent Technologies has been unusually broad. He led major functional groups in Product Development, Manufacturing, Marketing, and Quality. He has also served as General Manager of the Hewlett-Packard Logic Systems Division. Mike is a pragmatic and personable leader who can bring practical techniques and insight to all aspects of the value chain, including the product life cycle and development techniques, manufacturing operations, and marketing systems. He is particularly capable of creating implementation from a vision, turning around business situations, and organizing teams of people to get results.
Mike's track record includes turning around businesses to regain profitability and morale, gaining market share from competitors, re-organizing operations after structural changes, and creating new business strategies for success. His most recent success was in Product Development. He led the creation and implementation of new product and technology roadmaps for a very competitive test and measurement business, in order to reenter the high performance segment of the market.
In the R&D area, Mike has experience at leading software engineering, high speed hardware engineering, IC design, and system engineering. All this is brought together through the use of a product life cycle with Fast Cycle Time techniques. In the Marketing area, he has led the creation of marketing systems for inbound planning, outbound programs, and sales channel development. In Manufacturing, he has utilized modern techniques of supply chain management, in conjunction with manufacturing engineering for new and sustaining products. All his experiences have an overlay of high performance team development, managing to the numbers, and operational excellence. Role modeling, mentoring, and direct coaching are used to yield a trusting work environment.
Prior to HP and Agilent, Mike worked for General Motors. He holds BSEE from General Motors Institute (Kettering University) and an MSEE from the University of Colorado at Boulder. He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). He has studied Competition and Strategy at Harvard Business School, and Executive Excellence from the Covey Leadership Center.
