Andy McCaskey is a notable bridge between two cultures. He is a
35-year veteran of the technology world with technical and commercial
experience who has made the leap into 21st century New Media with
enthusiasm, class and skill. Over 2000 audio and video episodes hosted
or produced by Andy were downloaded more than 4.5 million times over the
past five years through a daily online technology and business news
broadcast program. His audience reach and online reputation targeting
managers and executives provide an exceptional foundation for evaluation
and recommendation of New Media policy, practice and techniques.
His special interest is helping clients understand the shift in
outbound and inbound communications with the growth of Social Media and
New Media, and then developing strategies to harness this disruptor for
marketing, sales, recruiting, training, and relationships with people
inside and outside the organization.
Andy’s personal journey began with broadcast engineering
certification, development of leadership skills as a US Army Ranger, and
systems engineering work for Harris Corporation on military
communications systems. Additional career moves and projects with
General Electric, McDonnell-Douglas and the Tektronix Grass Valley Group
added technical background and broad ranging interests. This background
allows Andy to be conversant over a wide variety of technologies and
applications in government systems, telecom, and computing. For the past
five years, on-air hosting and full on-site media coverage of the
Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas have kept Andy current and
engaged in many areas of commercial communications-electronics as well.
Andy has direct sales and sales support experience, in addition to
experience with rep and distributor channels in the United States, Asia,
and Europe. During his fifteen year career at HP / Agilent, Andy managed
the North America Electronic Design Automation (EDA) Application
Engineering team.
Andy is an enthusiastic and innovative early adopter, tempered with experience in large companies. He’s had successes and failures introducing concepts and technology into large organizations. He’s applied New Media production techniques to sales training, producing a regular podcast training series for over two years, and produced online video coverage of multiple events for the Content Management Association and Hewlett-Packard. His shows have been nominated for PodcastAwards People's Choice in Science and Technology in (2008 and 2009) and Best Production Categories (2009), along with such shows as the BBC's Naked Scientist, NPR's This American Life, and WNYC Radio Lab.
Andy completed the Purdue University Executive MBA program (MS in Management), and an MS Telecom through the Electrical Engineering Department at the University of Colorado at Boulder. He was active in emerging marketing and business thought in the Fast Company Company of Friends leadership in the Chicago area, is a licensed Ultralight Sport Pilot, and a charter member of the Tech Podcast Network.
