Ed Powers is an executive passionate about building high performing organizations. His 24 years of professional experience includes sales, marketing, quality, operations, corporate development, and executive management in high technology, business services, and luxury travel industries. His focus is helping organizations implement effective strategic management systems, including leadership process, strategic planning and review, strategy deployment, balanced scorecards, process management, process improvement, and performance management. He is uniquely skilled at building new businesses from concept to profitability, creating a culture of high performance, and solving very complex problems in service environments.
Ed’s COO experience includes co-founding and running the highest performing luxury destination club in the industry, overseeing member services, property operations, and information technology functions. As VP Corporate Planning and Development for an outsourced call center provider, he managed the quality function, facilitated strategic planning, and transformed the enterprise-wide management system. As co-founder and VP Operations, he created all products and services and implemented operations for a firm providing strategic sourcing through internet tools and professional services.
Ed began his career at Hewlett-Packard where he worked for many years with electronics manufacturing companies to implement test equipment solutions that helped verify product designs, improve manufactured quality, and diagnose and repair products in the field.
Ed is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt and an Examiner for the Malcolm Baldrige National Performance Excellence Program. He is an Examiner and a member of the board of directors for Rocky Mountain Performance Excellence, the Western Region Baldrige program.
He is a graduate of the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Ed is an award-winning trainer and has spoken frequently at Quest for Excellence, Rocky Mountain Quality Conference, the American Society for Quality, Colorado State University, and the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. He is an avid cyclist and makes his home in Fort Collins, Colorado with his wife and son.
