Spencer Bader

Principal

Spencer Bader is a veteran high technology manufacturing and operations executive. His 33-year career ranges from hands-on management positions in repetitive manufacturing of instruments to program management of engineered-to-order turnkey $2.5 million systems. Spencer has also managed many support functions such as order processing, customer service, master scheduling, planning systems development, procurement and contracts, logistics, and distribution and warehousing.

Spencer's experience as a line manager includes several new product introductions and planning for the obsolescence of other products. He has managed multiple shift assembly and test lines of a hundred people. He led hardware and software engineering teams of up to thirty individuals working on custom systems.

As a materials manager and as a program manager, Spencer has been successful on both sides of the negotiating table. He has extensive negotiation training including the Harvard Program on Negotiation, taught by Professor Roger Fisher, the author of "Getting to YES." His experience includes development of annual corporate purchase agreements with strategic suppliers both in the US and internationally. In his role as a program manager for custom systems, he was responsible for business development, contract and specification negotiations, and closing the sale.

Most recently, Spencer applied his proven process and analytical skills to marketing and sales, leading a team which analyzed the organizational, hiring, training and other changes necessary to create a successful strategic global account program for a global company.

Spencer was also a founding partner of a regional consulting firm. He served as the Vice President of Professional Development for the local chapter of the American Production and Inventory Control Society. Finally, Spencer is a State level 5 soccer referee, instructor, and match assessor, having been selected to referee in two Western Regional Tournaments. He currently serves as the President of the Sonoma County Soccer Referees Association.

Spencer holds a Masters of Science in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University and a Masters of Business Administration from Harvard. His undergraduate degree is in economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
